INDIFFERENCE
The letters of love
Are spread over
Landscapes in banners
Of shimmered paint
Bashed away with stick and ball
Against walls of resistance
As if it could ever
Be forced or tamed
Counted and discounted
With each plucked petal
From unfortunate flowers
Until none is left to reconcile
* * * * *
While the flurried
Haunt of hate in diaphanous
Hood with liquid gaze
Frequents the well-traveled road
Known and understood
Called out for what it is
Its faltering voice quelling
Through art and reason
* * * * *
But, indifference;
That one skulks and hides
In liminal spaces
Picking a life apart
