How far away is away
And just how long has it been

Do I still hear it ring
Does it still strike a chord
Is it in someones’ hands
Is it still as adored

As when I once played it
Admired the grain in its wood
Does it make someone feel
Does it still sound as good

The intonation still true
The mahogany neck nice and straight
Does it fit like a mitred dovetail joint
Like it did in ’68

Does it play the old songs
Cohen, Lightfoot and Prine
Cause some to smile and others to cry
As it did in my prime
